Itinerary
Day 1 — V/Line Arrival Into The High Country Rail Trail & Lake Hume
Start your journey by boarding the V/Line service at Southern Cross Station (6:45 am), arriving in Wodonga at 11:07 am. We’ll meet you at the station in our minibus and head straight to the famous Tallangatta Bakery for lunch.
After fueling up, we’ll provide you with a comfortable e-bike and transport you to Shelley Station—the highest point of the trail. Enjoy a spectacular 45km downhill ride through pristine forest, crossing historic timber trestle bridges. You’ll pedal across the show-stopping Sandy Creek Bridge over Lake Hume, continuing to the Hume Dam wall for a photo opportunity overlooking the Murray River. We wrap up the day by shuttling you to your Albury accommodation.
Day 2 — Tuesday | Yarrawonga to Rutherglen
We’ll pick you up at 8:00 am for a transfer to Everton Station. From here, you’ll join the Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail for a gentle 15km climb into Beechworth for morning tea.
The journey continues with a stunning 31km stretch to Yackandandah, where we’ll enjoy a classic country lunch at the Yackandandah Hotel. After lunch, enjoy a leisurely 6.5km ride along the Osbornes Flat Cycle Trail.
To finish the tour, we head back to Albury for a scenic 15km loop. You'll ride the Yindyamarra Sculpture Trail and the Wonga Wetlands, keeping the Murray River by your side as you pedal back to Hovell Tree Park. Our support bus will then drop you at Albury Station in time for the 5:27 pm V/Line service back to Melbourne.
