Itinerary
-
Arrive in Tumut from 3:30pm and settle into the four-star Ashton Motel in the heart of town. Meet your fellow riders and tour staff over a team dinner at a leading local hotel or restaurant, where you'll get a full rundown on the days ahead.
-
Start with breakfast at the Toast Café, then bus 10km to the Gilmore Valley — a stunning closed valley — for a 29km loop alongside Gilmore Creek, known for its Brown and Rainbow Trout populations. Recharge at the Coffee Pedaler before cycling the valley floor 15km to the impressive Blowering Dam Wall. Bus back to Tumut and enjoy a well-earned ale at the Tumut River Brewing Co.
-
After breakfast at Toast Café, bus 20km north to Brungle and begin cycling the low-traffic Darbala Road as it hugs the Murrumbidgee River. Mountains and hills roll down to meet the clear water, with ancient river redgums lining the banks. Enjoy morning tea riverside before arriving in Jugiong for lunch at the historic St George Hotel, then bus back to Tumut via Gundagai.
-
Bus south to Laurel Hill and descend 23km by bike into Tumbarumba for morning tea on the vibrant main street. Take the sealed rail trail 21km to Rosewood, then ride on to award-winning Courabyra Wines for a 2pm restaurant lunch. Finish the afternoon with a browse through the historic streetscape of Batlow before returning to Tumut.
-
After breakfast at the Coffee Pedaler, bus through Radiata Pine plantations to the Argalong Valley — a hidden gem with a twisting bitumen switchback descent under overhanging eucalypts. Morning tea at Lacmalac Hall, then cruise back through Tumut Plains Road for a farewell lunch with the group at the Orient Hotel. A wonderful final ride to close out the tour.
